Is Mario Brothers still a play thru game or is it in stages or levels that can be saved like on pokemon?

it has been years sense I played mario brothers. Is it still a play thru game or is it in stages or levels that can be saved like on pokemon. Where you can start where you ended or does it go back to the beginning?

For Mario Brothers 1-3, there was no saving system. You have to start from the beginning everytime you load the games. Unless your playing Mario All-stars for the SNES, you can quit and save at anytime.

Super Mario World allows you to save after a beaten Ghost House, Castle, or Switch Block. This was the first game in the Mario Brothers series that allowed you to start from a certain position in the game.
